Diving into your dreams

Do you ever feel like your life is passing you by?

Let me tell you a little story about human behavior. When my daughter was 3, she joined her peers In looking forward to the last day of swim school. This was the day they got to jump off the diving board into the safe hands of the coach. I observed something interesting as I watched each child take a turn. Most were extremely cautious. You wouldn’t know by their behavior that they were once excited for this event. As the students approached the diving board, it was clear fear set in. Some wouldn’t even get on the board. Others would go half way and nervously turn around and some would make it all the way to the end before turning back. They put themselves through so much agony. Their reactions were not surprising, of course their life saving instincts kicked in to protect them! What was surprising was a very different behavior I noticed from my larger than life daughter. She did not hesitate for a second. She charged ahead, walked to the end of the plank and without even a pause, yelled out in pure exhilaration: “Whee!” as she jumped into the safe arms of her instructor. How many times do we stop ourselves from moving forward? Or put ourselves through unnecessary pain that robs us of the joy we want to experience? Rather than going in circles talking yourself into and out of your dreams, why not spare yourself the turmoil and just go for it!

Rather than take life by the reins and go all in with exuberance and happy anticipation, do you ever spin yourself into a dizzy spell of unnecessary exhaustion? I must admit, if this is an analogy of my life, I was the kid that turned back more than once. But I’m happy to say that I eventually took the leap and I’m so glad I did because I’m living my life by design! I’m doing what I want to do and I’m making an impact on the lives of others while doing it! Well today, I urge you to give yourself permission to go all in with your life! Most people regret the risks they didn't take far more than the risks they did! Take the jump and enjoy the awesome, exhilarating journey to the good life!

Will you take the big plunge and enjoy the journey?
